Estes has a dangerous secret. JT is in charge of a dangerous town. With a dark history of prosecuting those who are different, JT suddenly finds himself on the wrong side of the law with no one to turn to. Estes may use her ancestry to make a living, but now she needs to tap into a power she’s always had to hide in order to help JT. It may expose her to those of her kind who want to remain unknown, but for the first time in her life she can do something good with her talents. However, in Salem, no good deed goes unpunished. And when JT loses control of his town, he discovers he may not be able to save himself and the woman who has claimed his broken heart.
Excerpt of Cursed
Lachlan jumped up onto the stone bench with ease and turned to face the crowd. His red hair glistened in the afternoon sun, complimenting the fall leaves and making him look like he was a part of nature. With his chin-length curls and the white dress shirt unbuttoned to show off his toned abs, he knew he had the attention he desired.
“Ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for gathering here today and trusting us to communicate with your beloveds.” He smiled and frowned and gave our customers the appropriate amount of mock concern as he read their reactions. Lachlan was good at this. A showman. An extrovert.
A con man.
“While I can’t guarantee who will show up today, I promise that you will leave here feeling better.”
Many in the crowd nodded. Some dabbing at their eyes, some clenching their hands together to stop the emotion from spreading. The colors of their auras blended together in shades of blues and grays. It signified sadness and loss. And it was a color I was tired of seeing on all of these trips. I mean, who wanted to make a living hopping from one cemetery to the next? I was tired. Tired and broken and sick of all things emotional.
“Please leave your payment with Miss May and I’ll talk to you…and your dead loved ones…shortly.” With one graceful move, Lachlan hopped over the stone wall that surrounded the cemetery and disappeared without a sound. While the gullible people clapped for his performance, I knew he was getting his miniscule earpiece ready so I could feed him information.
